The Alubar doors are made in low weight aluminium. The rubber sealings are “hidden” on the back side of the doors for protection. - Safety Barriers Horizontally Top Stowed The Alubar HL Model has been designed for the free span of 13000 mm width. The top stow model will be chosen when the ship has none extra room at neither of the sides, but have at least 300 mm of extra free height. The X-profile aluminium elements are 200 mm thick and the weight of a 4 m x 12,5 m barrier is 3200 kg. The barrier is running on wheels in a rail on each side. The hydraulic clamping in the barrier position is directly on the barrier. A hydraulic cylinder with wire and blocks transport the barrier from the barrier position to the stored position. The barrier is operated by push buttons connected to a PLC. - Safety Barriers Vertically Side Stowed The VL model is flexible and is a lightweight winner. The barriers mounted on board M/S “Stena Germanica” have the size of h= 4,5 m, w= 12 m and a weight of only 1700 kg. The Alubar VL is working very reliable and has been in service on board M/S “Kronprins Harald” since spring 1996. The model is suspended in a monorail and can be installed in such way that the ship’s existing beams are still the free height after the installation. The barriers are hydraulic driven and operated by a PLC. The aluminium profiles are only 100 mm thick. The slim construction takes only a few mm from each lane on the car deck. It is only necessary with a narrow cut if the barrier has to pass through a moveable deck.
