For your guidance, our method of reconditioning is in accordance with engine builder‘s specification. Reconditioning of Piston Crowns: Cleaning and grit blasting for inspection and determination of desired repair method. Machining of burnt/damaged areas. Full welding of grooves area/outside diameter by submerged arc-welding machine. Welding of top crown if necessary. Stress relieving. Machining of outside area, groove area and top of the crown. Double hard-chrome plating of the ring grooves. Hydrostatic test and final inspection.
